British Gypsum, part of the Saint-Gobain group, is the UK’s leading manufacturer of interior lining systems. The company produces gypsum based products including plaster, plasterboard and ceiling partitions. Its Robertsbridge site spans over 1000 acres and is home to a plasterboard processing plant with conveyor line from the Brightling mine aswell as warehouses, offices and fishing lake.
In the spring of 2017 mechanical contractor Hadene Building Services of Chatham undertook the stripout of the existing equipment as well as the design and installation of new LPHW and HWS plant in the site’s Engineering Block. Mikrofill Systems supplied 2No ETHOS 90kW stainless steel condensing boilers c/w integral shunt pumps and cascade controller. The new boilers provide VT LPHW to the offices and canteen area as well as a CT circuit on a priority basis to 1No EXTREME HWS loading cylinder. The 500 litre unvented cylinder ensures maximum efficiency is achieved by the condensing boilers (at a Δt 30°C) whilst the EXTREME is both loading and producing instantaneous HWS at 60°C.
The LPHW system was complemented by the integration of a pre commissioned Mikrofill 250 pressurisation package.
