Icknield Community School in Watlington Oxfordshire wants to ensure that all its students are prepared and motivated to make a difference both now and in the future. Under its “excellence for all” principle the school wants everybody connected to realise their potential in as many aspects of their lives as possible.

The school has recently replaced its aged heating plant with 2 Mikrofill Ethos FS350 floor standing condensing boilers. The twin burner stainless steel boilers (separated from the existing system via a plate heat exchanger) have a total modulation of 40 > 1 (686 > 17 kW) at 80/60°C and a seasonal efficiency in excess of 95%. Designed by building services consultant Capita (Oxford) and installed by national building services contractor EIC, the new boilers provide LPHW to various heating zones around the school.

The boiler to exchanger circuit was unvented by a pre-commissioned pressurisation package incorporating a Mikrofill unit, a 150 litre expansion vessel and a service drain valve.
