Newport Girls’ High School in Shropshire was founded in 1920 to provide a grammar school education. The School continues to follow this ethic today with an appropriately challenging curriculum taught in a safe and supportive environment.
To combat a lack of permanent accommodation, plans were passed for the building of an extension. Completed in late 2012 the scheme included new classrooms, a multipurpose sports hall/assembly room and changing facilities all sympathetic to the original construction.
Mikrofill supplied 2 No Ethos FS 550 kW condensing boilers which provide LPHW to both the new extension and parts of the original building. With an unsurpassed premix burner modulation of 20 > 1 per boiler and an output capability of 700 > 17.5kW, the boilers ensure the building load is accurately matched whatever the season.
The new stainless steel boilers were complemented by the installation of a Mikrofill pressurisation device that incorporates an expansion vessel and service drain valve.
The mechanical installation was carried out by building services contractor Dodd Group of Telford.
