Parkstone Yacht Club in Poole was established in 1895 and is situated on the North shore of the second largest natural harbour in the world. In the summer of 2016 work started on Parkstone’s new state-of–the- art clubhouse in Pearce Avenue. The new construction will accommodate the club’s active 2,800 members including around 480 sailors, aged 4 – 18 most of which are locally based.
Leading building services consultancy Hoare Lea selected Mikrofill equipment to provide suitable plant to cover the club’s LPHW & HWS demands. This included 3No Ethos 110kW stainless steel condensing boilers providing both heating and indirect LPHW to 3No 500L Extreme HWS loading systems. With a busy race calendar the clubhouse has substantial demands for both showering and catering throughout the year. The new installation was carried out by long standing Poole based contractor, Rentec Limited.
The Extreme is a domestic hot water generator that combines the advantages of both an instantaneous hot water heater and a storage system. The efficiency of the Ethos 110kW boilers is maximised whilst providing indirect LPHW to the cylinder as the Extreme is designed to operate at a Δt of 30°C. Based on a prioritised input of 110kW at 80°C each Extreme 500 will produce in excess of 2350 l/hr and 800 litres in a 10 minute period at 60°C.
