Run by Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Trust, Forest Close is a sixty bed unit divided into four bungalows providing 24hr inpatient care to support people with severe and enduring mental health problems. The aim is to help people achieve their optimum level of recovery in a collaborative and flexible way.

In 2013 a feasibility study was prepared by Sheffield based building services consultants A&P Dynamic Design Ltd. During which, it was identified that the existing LPHW and HWS systems including controls were at the end of their lifecycle. In 2014 the decision was made to implement a new strategy and improve the efficiency of these circuits.

Each bungalow is now served from a localised plantroom by gas fired condensing plant that feeds the primary circuits. The HWS demand in each bungalow is supplied by a Mikrofill Extreme 300 litre loading cylinder. Each cylinder ensures optimum condensing performance from the primary plant and produces in excess of 2500 l/hr at 60°C. The cylinders compact size allowed easy installation into each of the existing buildings. In addition each plantroom is unvented by a pre commissioned Mikrofill pressurisation package.

The new schemes equipment was installed by Sheffield based mechanical contractor G W Dawes & Son Ltd.
