SPORTS CENTRE UPGRADE WITH MIKROFILL
Earlier this year, Ystradgynlais Sports Centre in Powys underwent a major refurbishment which included updating the centre’s heating and hot water services.
Powys County Council needed to update the old inefficient cast iron boilers and coiled cylinders with new concepts and chose Mikrofill Systems to supply new hot water cylinders as well as 4No wall mounted Ethos stainless steel condensing boilers.
Installed by the Cardiff office of Building Services Engineers, Lorne Stewart Plc, the Ethos 110kW boilers provide heating to radiators and air handling units serving the pool, gym and offices as well as LTHW primary to 2No Rapide Extreme 300 litre hot water loading cylinders.
Each Rapide Extreme 300 produces in excess of 2300 litres per hour which serves the showers and basins at the centre, whilst keeping the boilers in condensing mode.
The new installation was complimented by the Mikrovent 750 low loss header with integral air & dirt separation along with the WRAS approved Mikrofill EFD.
The design for Powys County Council was undertaken by Kevin Paver of Capita Symonds Ltd.
