Following a survey by the engineering division of West Midlands Fire Service, it was determined that the existing LPHW heating plant at Handsworth Fire Station in Birmingham was in need of replacement.
The scheme was comprehensively carried out by long standing mechanical team, Bayliss Group Systems Ltd. The new LPHW plant installation included 3 No Ethos 130kW stainless steel condensing boilers with a collective modulation of 390 to 13kW. The system was unvented by way of a pre-commissioned Mikrofill 500 pressurisation package. This included a Mikrofill 3, a 500 litre expansion vessel and a service drain valve.
The installation of 2 No Extreme 500 litre HWS loading cylinders ensures all staff can comfortably shower after a busy day. The Extreme cylinders maximises the efficiency of the Ethos condensing boilers as they are designed to operate at a primary Δt of 30°C (80/50°C) and can produce in excess of 2500 litres an hour at 60°C.
